Dr. Rasiklal "Rasikbhai" Patel was born on September 11, 1945 in Deesa, Gujarat, India, son to Hira and Ambalal Patel. He grew up with his 8 siblings, Dinesh, Chandrakant, Kailas, Vinu, Premila, Mina, Nayana and Alka. After attending Saurashtra University, Rasikbhai pursued a doctoral degree an MBBS at M.P. Shah Medical College. He married his first love, Divya and soon after they had their first child, their son Shital, they immigrated to the United States, where Rasikbhai was able to sponsor so many family members after attaining his citizenship. Six years after Shital was born, Divyaben and Rasikbhai had a daughter, Sejal. Sadly, in 1992, Divyaben passed away after a long, hard battle with cancer. Later that year, Rasikbhai was introduced to his love, Pushpa and the two wed in June of 1993. 4 years later,in 1997, Rasikbhai & Pushpaben were blessed with a little girl, Sarina. Pushpaben and Rasikbhai celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary this past summer.
Though Rasikbhai's life was dedicated to treating the underserved population of Irvington, NJ, Rasikbhai always made time for the health needs of his family & friends. After over 47 years of practicing as a doctor, Rasikbhail hung up his coat and retired in 2019 after suffering from an aneurym. Although Rasikbhai was an avid traveler, the COVID pandemic made it a challenge for him to continue to see the world. In January of 2022, he was diagnosed with Stage 2 pancreatic cancer and despite his best efforts and bravery through chemo therapy, he progressed to Stage 4. He passed peacefully and painlessly in the early morning of September 24th surrounded by his wife and children.
