Sweet Paula was my dearest friend in high school. I had just moved to Dallas right before beginning sophomore year, and didn’t know anyone.  Paula welcomed me and made me feel special. After graduating we didn’t see each other often. But when we did it was like we’d never been apart. She was a shining light spreading love and joy wherever she went. I know there is a hole in all of our hearts. But because of our mutual faith in the Lord Jesus Christ I know I will see Paula again. Love and blessings to her family.
John and Turner…Our hearts are broken.  We had so many good times in Vail…our neighborhood parties, our friendship…we met in carpool and in the years that followed it included car pools to Vail Mountain School, hockey, soccer, Ski Club Vail and many more…we will never forget when we all hosted the Chinese hockey team from Jilin back in the 90's..you had the Communist party leaders assigned to make certain the players arrived back home and we had the coaches yet no one spoke a word of English ..what a few weeks….Paula always vibrant and energetic leading the way..thank you for the memories, the friendship, the love that we will treasure...So happy we connected again in Carbondale... We miss you dearly…Joann and Ed Levy      Brandon and Jaime Levy  PS-John and Turner…per our discussion at the service please stay in touch…...

I knew Paula through our Nosework community.  We were Parking Lot Pals for NACSW Trials. I also knew her thru AKC Scent Work. I gave her AKC judging assignments for our club so she could graduate from Provisional Status to Approved.  She joined our club to support the fledging scent work program. She judged several of our trials, and was to judge again for us in October. She was a wonderful judge, encouraging exhibitors all the way.

I learned a lot about her that I didn't know from her Memorial Service. It was a wonderful and moving service. So much LOVE. I knew she was a special lady - but I didn't realize all the talents she had.  I am grateful for the few years I knew her. I will miss her in the NACSW Parking Lots, at Nosework Camp and at our AKC trials.  I didn't know her family - but I knew a lot about her family. There was a twinkle in her eye when she talked  about her times in Bolivia.   RIP Dear Lady - You left us way too soon!

I was so so sad to hear about Paula’s passing!! I so enjoyed the time spent with her while I was doing her hair! Our conversations were always enjoyable and she always made me laugh! I feel blessed to have known her! My thoughts and prayers are with her family! ❤️
My condolences to Dr. Paula's family. I first met Dr. Paula when she hired me as AMS ESL teacher  and we would often talk about Texas and our Spanish Heritage.  She later asked if Scottie and I would take care of her house.  Of course, I always jumped at the chance at staying at her cabin/home.  I loved that house and it soon became a ritual to stay each summer when she would visit Turner in China and Bolivia.  She was so generous to us and always thought of us.  It breaks my heart that she is gone, our pictures of the house will be the true memories of what she loved so much.  Love you Paula.
In Shanghai with TC , we stayed a few days together in the same apartment, she is very good .

Like many of you I was just shocked and devastated to hear of Paula's passing. I remember being in Saturday PhD school with her and our friend Blanche. My husband John and I loved having her stay with us during those weekends. Then we were lucky to have stay with us during the week when she was a principal in Lakewood and then she would go home for the weekend. Our long haired orange tabby cat, Rusty would wait for Paula at the curb for her to come home after school. He didn't wait for anyone else but Paula. You could say they had a thing going. I credit her and Blanche for making it thorough our PhD program and getting those dissertations written. Paula always shined academically, personally, and as a friend, mother, wife, mother-in-law, and grandmother. She was so giving and generous with her friendship and love, I will always remember her beautiful smile. Jan Perry Evenstad
To Everyone:

Paula, my younger beautiful sister, was a force in my life. Growing up, we loved each other, we fought with each other, we worked well with each other and challenged each other. We were both passionate about music.

What we enjoyed and loved together, from traveling with our parents in the back seat of their car to Mexico, to our lives in Dallas, Colorado and the West Coast, I will never lose. Our family and friends have lost an incredible life force which was still taking off. There was so much left for her to do.

There are no words to express how I feel at this tragic and unexpected loss. Myself and my family, her husband, son, daughter in law and grand children will miss her deeply.

I think of her and miss her everyday. Her memory is my keepsake.

I love you and miss you Paula.

Dear John and Family, So very sorry for your loss, we always enjoyed seeing you both and having you as house guests. A great loss to all of us that were lucky enough to know her, she will be missed
Beverly was our dads secretary for many years. So the Mulberry Family knew the Lazon family well.
When I was starting jr high in 7th grade it was a new school and I only knew one person- Paula
She was very loving and helpful.

Paula, Jan and I were in the same PhD cohort. Paula would drive down the hill and spend “class weekends” at Jan’s house. The three of us spent countless hours studying, laughing and sometimes crying as we plowed through our program. I will never forget her smile, her laugh, (especially when things were getting tough) and her positive outlook on everything! I was honored to be a principal with her in Jeffco. I was honored to be her friend. She is missed.
Love to you Paula...Taken too soon, our condolences to John and your family and your beautiful grandchildren...prayers for Cheela and everybody's healing...you are everywhere now.
Mary and Terry
