Doug's obituary

Douglas (Doug) Watson, 81 of Dunwoody, GA sadly passed away on October 5, 2022, after a lengthy battle with kidney disease. Doug was born to Walter and Myrtle Watson in 1941 and grew up in Ashtabula, OH. He and his family moved to Dunwoody, Georgia in 1981.

After attending Ashtabula High School, Mr. Watson went on to serve in the National Guard and attended Cleveland Engineering Institute, and enjoyed a career as a structural designer. Mr. Watson also owned  Ashtabula Construction Products and Atlanta Miscellaneous Steel Fabrication, Inc.

His family will remember him as loving, kind, and always present. To his friends, he was a comic relief always ready with a joke or song to lighten the mood. He valued faith, family, hard work, and doing the right thing.

Mr. Watson was a member of the Atlanta Power Squadron and served on the board of Governors at University Yacht Club where he was a member for many years. He loved boating, music, woodworking, and his beloved dogs. He was also a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Ashtabula and All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody.

Mr. Watson is survived by his wife of sixty years Patti, as well as his children Rick (Michelle) Watson, and Jennifer (Chuck) Sheran, and nine grandchildren. He joins his oldest son Doug P. Watson in eternity.

The family is honoring Douglas Watson’s life with a celebration on December 18, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the University Yacht Club Pavilion and Clubhouse located at 6700 Yacht Club Road, Flowery Branch, Georgia.
