Dearest Susan - Douglas was a generous host sharing his time and talent with everyone around him. I am so glad he decided to retire early to spend more happy time with you and the kids.
We share your loss and will forever feel that hole in our hearts where Douglas was.

Our condolences to Douglas's family. We first met Douglas when he brought Katie and Michael to our home during the Hawthorn Woods Mass Garage Sale (many years ago now) to set up there wares for sale as they had not signed up to be in the sale. We have enjoyed the family ever since. We have so many good memories of good times with Doug and Susan, mystery dinners, New Years Eve celebrations and our very fun Sequence game nights. Our deepest condolences to the Allen family, Doug will be so missed by us all. Carol and Myron

Doug would normally come to Drake around this time every year. I was just thinking the other day how he’d swing by and have a chat in just a few weeks. Doug was a talker. He loved talking about his time in Aruba, his time in the cake business, but mostly he loved talking about his kids. At this point I feel like I’ve met them he’s told me so much about them. I’ll always remember Doug as a man who was so proud of his family, especially his children and just one of the most generous, loving, compassionate person I have had the pleasure of getting to know. I know I’m better for having gotten to know Doug over the years.

We are heartbroken over the loss of our wonderful friend, Doug. We will forever treasure all of the memories we’ve shared together on our many stays at Parrot Villa in Aruba. Susan and Douglas were always such gracious hosts, and always ready for new and exciting adventures. We will greatly miss Doug’s smiling face welcoming us at the airport, and his kind and caring presence in our lives.
Our deepest condolences to Susan, Katie, and Michael, whom he loved beyond words. May your fond memories sustain you through this difficult time, and may you feel Doug’s love surrounding you and protecting you…always. ❤️🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼❤️

I met Douglas when my family moved to Northfield from Montreal and started school at Sunset Ridge. Year approx. 1965. We have kept in touch since.

I am shocked. Doug was one of only three or four people I have kept up with for the entire time since high school. He was one of the first people I met when we all got there in 1965. I am sorry to say I have not kept in touch as I should. Rest in peace Douglas and God bless you all.
