DOUGLAS's obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Douglas L Lockwood, who departed this life on August 23, 2023. Born on February 15, 1947, Douglas was a man who lived his life with humor, authenticity, and a deep love for his family.

Douglas is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Truesdale Lockwood; his devoted son, Thomas A Lockwood; his cherished daughter, Lara Lockwood Burke; his dear grandsons, Everett and Sawyer Burke;  his father-in-law, Philip Burton; his loyal brother, Dee Lockwood; and his caring sisters, Nancy Parker, Judy Eastman, and Susie Reibe.

Douglas had a deep appreciation for the simple things in life. He derived immense pleasure from popcorn, and enjoyed a glass of red wine. His taste in literature drew towards the rustic narratives of Louis L'Amour westerns, and he found enjoyment in TV shows such as 'My Name Is Earl' and 'Married With Children'. Western movies particularly captured his imagination and provided countless hours of entertainment.

Douglas loved off-roading in his Jeep Sahara during his leisure time. He enjoyed long walks as part of his exercise routine, and often sought the natural beauty of the Anza-Borago desert, especially the serenity of Turkey Track. He was known to enjoy Support Org for Trisomy conferences, a testament to his nurturing and empathetic nature.

Those who knew Douglas would describe his personality as one marked by dry humor. He was a loving family man, a quality he considered to be one of his greatest accomplishments. He will also be sorely missed by his furry companions, his llamas, Tina and Blanca.

As we bid farewell to Douglas Lockwood, we celebrate the joy and love he brought into our lives and the memories that we will carry in our hearts forever. His dry wit, warm hugs, and captivating storytelling will be missed profoundly by all who were fortunate to know him.
