Douglas's obituary

LAKE MILLS - Douglas Keith Huseth, age 76, of Lake Mills, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Sienna Crest (Fort Atkinson). He was born on August 9, 1948, in Madison, the son of Kenneth M. and Melba L. (Komplin) Huseth.

Douglas grew up near Blue Mounds, Wis., on the family's farm where he attended the one-room Ruste School. This unique structure allowed Doug to hop between the grade levels, such as participating in the 8th grader’s math lessons while still in 5th grade. In 1965, the family moved from Valders Valley to the Village of Mount Horeb.

Douglas graduated from Mount Horeb High School in 1966. He proudly served in the U.S. Army National guard, entering service as a member of E company in 1970. Douglas received his undergraduate degree from UW-Whitewater in 1972 and Master of Business Administration from UW-Milwaukee.

Douglas valued hard work and wore many hats in his career: certified public account, farming his Lake Mills property, truck driver, and school bus driver. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Mills.

Douglas is survived by his daughters, Dana (Chris Bettis) Bettis Huseth and Tara (Andrew Walbrun) Grafwallner-Walbrun. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Douglas was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth, in 1971; mother, Melba (Komplin), in 2010; brother, Lyle, in 2018; and sister, LuAnn (Huseth Call) in 2021. He was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Thomas Huseth and Christine (Skogen); and maternal grandparents, Milo Komplin and Lillie (Rolstad).

A memorial service will be held at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 346 W. Pine St., Lake Mills, Wis., at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025. A visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. A private scattering of ashes will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or the Wisconsin Future Farmers of America (FFA) would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
