I've known Doug since I was born. As one of my dads oldest and best friends he was just always around. One of the only non-blood related people I called 'Uncle'. Things in my own household were always very volatile and Doug would come around often and check on us kids, sometimes bring us a meal or pick us up to stay with him while the Ol' Man was sorting out his business. I've driven across BC many times with him. He wrote me letters when I moved away and once in a while would show up with a surprise visit. He was always checking in on me and my brother. He would often pop in at my grandparents place at Christmas time to see the family. He WAS family. The last time I saw him was 10 years ago at my dads funeral. He came to town for the funeral (unannounced of course lol because that's how Doug rolled with us). We shared many memories, laughs and tears. He still checked in right up until the end. You will be forever missed Uncle Doug <3 Rest Peacefully.Â
