Douglas's obituary
Douglas Eugene Goforth was born in 1944 to Catherine Louise Farnan and B.D. Goforth in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. He moved to Colorado Springs in the 1950's.
He attended Harrison High School where he received recognition on the all-conference basketball team. After graduating high school in 1963, he attended the University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo on a basketball scholarship. He drove a cab while in college and would study in the taxi between fares while also working in the school cafeteria to make ends meet.
He was a teacher at both Watson Middle School and Widefield High School He proudly and passionately coached basketball throughout his career in education and led the Widefield boys basketball team to the league championship. He was beloved by his students, players and fellow teachers alike. He was also a self-taught and talented tradesman in construction.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. His fantastic sense of humor and heart of gold will be sorely missed.
Douglas married Diane right out of college and had Sherri although their time didn’t last forever it was cherished. He remarried Marla several years later and had Nathan and Becky, this to wasn’t forever but it wasn’t until many many years after that he’d go on to meet his soul mate and life partner Misha and he’d lived out the rest of his days happily ever after combining their families into one!
He is survived by his beloved wife, Misha/Michaela, his three children Sherri, Nathan, Becky, step daughter Carina, their families, Brian, Tesla, Melissa, Mikey, Kayla, Ariel, Davian, Joe, Skyler, Dillon, Angel, Nina, and Nevaeh were his beloved grandchildren and was so proud to have 4 boys and 4 girls as his great-grand children. His Step Brother Dano and his family, and a dear uncle to Dawna and Doug Jr and their families.
Douglas was preceeded in death by his Most loving and supportive mother Louise, father B.D., step father Scott and beloved brother Joe.
RIP Dougie Fresh! Words couldn’t express how greatly you’re missed and loved. We will keep your spirit and stories alive for the rest of our days until we meet again.. Soar with the owls and look out for us all!!
