Doug's obituary
Douglas Bird, 59, of Parker, CO, passed away on December 8th, 2022 after a 15-month long battle following a complicated medical diagnosis.
Doug was born on November 21st, 1963 to Tom and Cherlyn Bird in Blackfoot, Idaho. After graduating from Idaho Falls High School in 1982, he pursued his first job in the aviation industry. He started out as a mechanic for McDonnell Douglas, which later took him to Seattle, Washington to work for Boeing. In 1987, when Doug needed to book a flight home for the holidays, he got Kristine McRae as his booking agent. They talked on the phone for hours and when they decided to meet in person later that month, that was it, the rest was history. Doug and Kris were married in May of 1989, eventually having three children, Shayla, Mckenna and Tyler. As a family, they lived and made many friends across Utah, Washington, Idaho and Colorado.
Doug was a force of nature, many have said "when he spoke, there were pictures" and he never met a stranger. Doug was extremely passionate about his career in IT Operations; he loved sharing his knowledge and expertise. He would probably say his greatest joy at work was teaching and encouraging others to reach their full potential.
His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Kris, Shayla, Mckenna, and Tyler, and always tried his best to support them in all of their endeavors. He was Uncle Doug, and "Fun Dad" to many who surely all have a story to tell of his shenanigans. Most importantly, he would want us to express how he could not have done the last 15-months, let alone the last 33-years, without his wife Kris for her invaluable support and surrounding him in love and amazing caregiving.
Doug was predeceased by his mother, Cherlyn Bird. He is survived by his wife, Kris Bird, his children, Shayla Bird (Nick Chandler), Mckenna Bird (Alex Van Zante), Tyler Bird, his father, Tom Bird, his siblings, Dayna Crose (Rob Crose), Bryan Bird, his Mother-In-Law, Inga Didier (Bob Didier), his Father-In-Law, Lyle McRae (Carol McRae) and many dearly loved nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
