Solorio Memories
Solorio Memories — with Alecia Morrison and Kerry Hackman

I am so sorry for your loss.  I became acquainted with Doug through my niece, Carrie Pennebaker.  Carrie has early onset Alzheimers  and I began calling Doug about two and a half years ago so that Carrie could check in and talk to him.  Doug, Carrie and I had some great times together going to lunch and on day trips.  Doug was  very compassionate and kind to Carrie and we enjoyed Doug's sense of humor when he dubbed riding with me, "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride."   He even maintained his sense of humor when I started to drive off and leave his wheelchair when I forgot to load it after lunch at our favorite spot, Porto's.  It was particularly endearing when Doug began addressing me as Aunt Janie.

I enjoyed our day trip to the Museum of Tolerance and was impressed with his knowledge of the Holocaust and his ability to share the information with me, always the teacher.

We will miss our times with Doug, our mini book club that we formed, how he shared how much he loved Breanna and his kindness and compassion for Carrie

Doug introduced me to the Long Beach Grand Prix. We went 5 consecutive years and each year provided a new great memory about moments that were funny, exciting, and at times crazy. But for all those memories the one special memory was Doug's tradition of serving up a home cooked big breakfast of pancakes, eggs, bacon, OJ and coffee. His over the top ability to make a special day even more special has always been unmatched in my life. I will always treasure our time together, there is no better cliche than to say, Thanks for the memories Doug!
