Here it is September, 10 days before our scheduled departure for New England. Once again this plan to reach Deer Isle will be cancelled until next year. The GoFundMe appeal has not been successful. The memorial service for mother, Dorothy, along with two other family members will be delayed most likely until spring. Arrangements must now be made with the VA and the local mortuary to place the gravestone and memorial decals. As well, there is a need to contact the Deer Isle Historical society for assistance in accept the ashes and spreading them as requested. This location holds special significance as it is the final resting place of her husband, my father Leroy, as well as our ancestral relatives who are interred in the Family Cemetery.
