Hi. My name is Ellie. I’ve just turned 80 this June. I am reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea for assistance in fulfilling a decade long dream that has eluded me for so long At the age of 80, despite years of diligent saving, I find myself lacking the necessary funds to embark on a 5000-mile road trip to New England to fulfill my dream as well as my obligations. This journey is not just about fulfilling personal desires. This journey holds immense significance for me as it represents an opportunity to reconnect with my family, revisit cherished memories, and honor the wishes of my late brother Philip.
At the age of 80, I have decided that it is now or never to embark on this road trip from Kansas to New England. After leaving New England in 1987, I was able to return frequently to visit family as our business was thriving. Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances have prevented me from making the journey back to New England over the past decade. Now, at the age of 80, I have a longing to visit my grandchildren as well as at last hold my seven young great-grandchildren in Massachusetts in my arms. Furthermore, I carry the solemn responsibility of fulfilling my brother’s final wish Also I must fulfill the final wish of laying to rest the ashes of my brother Philip in our ancestral cemetery on Deer Isle, Maine.
A road trip is the only feasible way to reach my various destinations. At his stage in my life, financial constraints pose a significant obstacle to realizing this dream. As a senior without the financial means to cover all the costs of a 5,000-mile road trip to New England and home to Kansas, I am reaching out for support. I have planned this trip but so many times but it has fallen through on me for one reason or another. This year, I am determined to make it happen. Time is of the essence, and I fear that if this trip does not come to fruition this year, it may never happen.
As hard as I’ve tried to save for this trip financial constraints stand as a barrier between me and the realization of this journey. The costs associated with travel, accommodation, and other logistical expenses are beyond what I can manage on my own at this stage in life.
With help, I will be able to rent a reliable vehicle and cover the expenses related to fuel, meals, lodging, and any unexpected costs along the way. This journey allow me to reconnect with family members and friends scattered across the country and once more hold my grandchildren aa well as meet my 7 young great grandchildren whom I have yet to hold in my arms.
The journey holds immense significance beyond just family reunions. The trip will take me from Boston to Deer Isle, Maine, where I intend to intern three loved ones in our family cemetery with our parents and grandparents to fulfill their final wishes. I hold the ashes of my mother, my younger brother Philip and my departed husband Ernest. It is my time to make sure they are placed where they belong.
My youngest son Drew will accompany me to do the driving and keep me safe. We are planning to venture in to Scarborough Maine where there is an annual family reunion. I feel this will be a way for my son to connect with ancestral thoughts and give him a connection to his heritage that he has missed without close family around him.
I humbly turn to you for your generosity and assistance in making this dream journey a reality for me.
