Dorothy's obituary
Dorothy “Dotty” Ann Tanner, affectionately known as Dot, passed away unexpectedly on December 3rd, 2025. She was 51 years old.
Dotty lived her life with a spirit that burned bright — a fierce mother whose love showed up loud, loyal, and unwavering. She raised four children, each carrying a piece of her fire and tenderness: Autumn, Matt, Brian, and Summer. She also cherished her large family and the deep bonds she held with her many brothers and sisters, who shaped her life with connection, humor, and shared resilience.
Family and friends often described Dotty as a wildfire — bold, unforgettable, and unafraid to speak her truth. Others simply called her a firecracker, a name she wore with pride.
Some of Dotty’s happiest moments were rooted in the small rituals she loved: a hot cup of coffee with just enough French vanilla creamer; long conversations around the table with her family and friends; stories, jokes, and reflections about life and the dramas that kept everyone talking. She adored true crime and could spend hours theorizing and breaking down each twist and turn.
Dotty’s life was not easy, but she fought for joy, for her people, and for meaning every single day. She leaves behind a legacy of fierce love, humor, and a presence that will never be forgotten.
Her daughter Summer is lovingly taking care of her arrangements. Dotty will be cremated, and her ashes will be divided so that half will be laid to rest at Afton Cemetery beside her first daughter, Autumn, and the remaining ashes will stay with Summer, keeping mother and daughter forever connected.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date in Susquehanna PA, most likely in the spring, for family and friends to come together and honor Dotty’s life, stories, and spirit. Please contact Summie Bledsoe for details and to RSVP.
The family kindly asks that anyone with photos, memories, or stories of Dotty share them — these reflections will help her loved ones preserve the warmth, humor, and spark that defined her.
She will be deeply missed, endlessly remembered, and forever loved.
