Dorothy Aland received end of life care at a facility in Portland, Oregon called Hopewell House, attended by members of her family. This space is surrounded by trees and garden grounds that are as lovingly tended to as are the residents. The facility closed in 2019 and only reopened due to generous donors.

Only a handful of freestanding inpatient hospice centers like Hopewell House operate across the U.S. At Hopewell, people benefit from technically sophisticated treatments for their symptoms that are delivered with tenderness in welcoming, home-like settings. We experienced this compassionate care with Dorothy and strongly feel this type of care is worth supporting.
