I remember Doris telling me her Birthday was on D-Day. I would get it confused with thinking it was on December 7th which was the bombing of Pearl Harbor. So now, when they commemorate and celebrate D-Day, it always brings back the memory of Doris Ann and all my teenage years with Doris, Auntie and Clarence. They were good family times.
I remember when mom would have her co-workers over and she would play the guitar or piano or any instruments she put her hands on and they would sing until late. One of her coworkers would jump in the bed with me and we would act silly. Mom was always a lot of fun!
There is no way I could put my memories and thoughts from my heart into one small post. This woman was so loved by so many, and I was honored to be one of the people who got to love her. Snippets of memories come to my mind - her scratching my back so I could go to sleep. She taught me how to play grand theft auto (but she didn't like to share, so I just got to watch). The time I went to Florida with her for "the summer," and we found two dogs and named them Socrates and Aristotle. Then they ran away (maybe it was the names we gave them?). She taught me to have a love for books and a love for animals. She taught me not to limit my desire to learn or my ability to grow as a human. She will be forever loved and forever missed.
So sorry for your loss. She had a long, hapoy life with all the loved ones in her life, her children and grandchildren. She loved all of you so much and I know she got the same in return. May she Rest In Peace.
Doris was my grandmother and I was fortunate to spend a lot of time with her and my grandfather growing up.
I will always remember her playing video games, surfing the web and watching Robo Cop as well as true crime stuff with me. As an adult I got to spend a few months with her at my home in Florida, after my wedding and it was invaluable time.
She was intelligent, creative, wise and feisty as hell. I will miss her dearly.
My mom was always a very pleasant person to be around. If she would have ever been on any game shows she would have walked away with all the winnings. Mom was so very smart. She could go to the library and sign out several novels and had them read in no time at all. We were all so proud of Mom's intelligence! I will always love and miss her very much!!!!
