Doris's obituary

Mrs. Doris “Dot” Tapley Galbreath, age 93, of the Sharpe Spur Community, died Monday, January 29, 2024, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, following an extended illness. She was a native of Tattnall County, growing up in Collins, and she was a 1946 graduate of Collins High School. She married her husband and lived in Montgomery County since 1947. She worked at Roydon Wear in Ailey for many years and was a member of Higgston Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, S.L. Galbreath, two sons, William Duane Galbreath and Terry Lawton Galbreath; parents, William Ander Tapley and Mary Jane Foskey Tapley; and six siblings, Ruby Tapley Mincey, Flossie Tapley Denton, and Ted, Ned, Hubert, and Elton Tapley.

Her family includes three children, Cheryl Galbreath Foss, Kimberly Galbreath Corley and husband Jim, all of Sharpe Spur, and Dennis Thornton of Vidalia; six grandchildren, Shane Powell, William Duane Galbreath, Luci Galbreath, Dustin Corley and wife Codi, Brent Galbreath, Dillon Corley and Derick Corley; ten great-grandchildren, Micah Taylor, Trey Taylor, Patrick Galbreath, Jensen Galbreath, Addie Galbreath, Lily Weeks, Kai Taylor, Charlie Corley, Avery Corley, and Raina Ward; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home on Thursday morning, February 1st, from 10:00 until just prior to the funeral service at 11:00 with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating. Burial will follow at Galbreath Cemetery near Alston.
