Aunt Doris was always smiling. We had so many happy times with her. Lake Santee with Spike Jones on the record player and everyone talking at once. Uncle Ed would finally shout "shut up". Not a oin drop could be heard. Then it would all sat up again. Her dad would take her on the roller coaster at Coney. When they got to the top, he would say "look at the river Doris". We still say it when we ride today. Rest in peace good and faithful servant
My fondest memory of Mrs. Emerson is when she and my mom would stand at the fence and talk. Jeanne and I would be standing there with them sometimes. It seemed like they would talk for hours! (Of course it wasn't.)
Mrs. Emerson ... that's how I knew her. She was our next door neighbor so many years ago in Reading, when I was a kid. And she was always so very kind. Safe travels, Mrs. Emerson, across the length and breadth of all eternity.
Her children may have a different view but I always remember her being very joyful in life. I can only think of her as someone smiling. She loved her family and everyone else. And, yes, she was often tricked into dealing cards very other hand because she was talking and not paying attention. She was a delight. I also remember her words of wisdom when it came to cards - "one is one." She will be missed.
So many memories- a whole life time of memories. Some of my earliest memories, I would have to say are of our families being at Lake Santee. Even up to my last visit with her, she always had a smile and that twinkle in her eyes. Going to miss her but I'm happy she's reunited with so many family members and friends. Love you all.
