Doretha's obituary

We regretfully announce the passing of Doretha "Doe” Harrell-Satchell of Saint Petersburg, FL on April 21, 2022. Doretha was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully.

Our mother, Doretha, was one of the strongest, most courageous and bravest women to ever walk this earth and our family was blessed to have her as the head of the family. Doretha graduated from Bethune Cookman University in 1963 with a degree in Education.  After graduating, she went on to pursue a career as a Teacher enriching the minds of our young middle school students to high school.

In 1964, she met Milton aka “Milt” and together they went on to have 2 children. Doretha was a wonderful and loving mother who gave her all to her sons Erik and Andra. Doretha was fortunate to find love twice in her life when she had her 3rd Son Deonardo.  Doretha loved to sew and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and anyone that she decided was her family.  She had a true entrepreneurial mind , she definitely missed out on her fortune of being the first to come up with the idea to deliver groceries and door to door personal laundry/dry cleaning service.   We will never be able to fill the space left behind by her.

Doretha was predeceased by her mother Viola, her father Benjamin, her brother Joe, her sister Estell, her sister Gloria aka “Genie”, her ex husband Milton and her son Erik. She is survived by her son Andra and his wife Carla with her two grandsons Cordalle and Dathan.  Her son Deonardo and his wife Amber, and her grandchildren Erika and Arianna and her great grandchildren.  The family is overwhelmed and grateful for all the love and gratitude for Doretha and will celebrate her life on Friday, May 13th located at The Greater Mount Zion Church 1045 16th Street South at 11:00 am till 1:00 or until we have fulfilled honoring Doretha.
