Doreldene's obituary
Doreldene Pearce, 79, of Queens, NY, passed away on September 15, 2025 after a [descriptor] battle with [cause of death].
Doreldene Evadney Pearce, affectionately known to family and friends as “Dor or Dora, was born in Jamaica West Indies on August 13, 1946 to Ermine and Joseph Pagan and was the third of six siblings.
Dora found a love of track and field while attending Saint Andrews high school where she set records in the hurdles. This allowed her the opportunity to represent her country and travel the globe to compete. If you ever had a chance to talk to her, she would regale you with memories of her competition days with one in particular at the Pan-American games which was the like the Olympics where she won …
Dora left Jamaica to start a new life in the US on March 7, 1967 and soon married Rudolph Pearce and had two children, Karen Pearce and Alicia Derenoncourt.
She joined the Adams track team and eventually retired from competing but remained an enthusiastic paruticipant. To her It was more than a sport. It was a way of life that connected her to the world she once found immense joy in. This lead her to support of her countryman and eventually lead to her becoming a judge with the Colgate women’s games for 30 years.
Although she moved to the United States, her ties to Jamaica remained strong and close to her heart.
She worked with prominent law firms, including one with Nixon and one with rudy Giuliani as a legal secretary and took her job seriously. She had a great respect for time and it’s value. I can say without a doubt that she was never late for work or appointments and never missed day.
Dora always said cleanliness is next to godliness. She was the best at multitasking and made it look effortless all while listening to her reggae music.
Dora was a strong independent thinking woman who was always extremely kind and caring in immeasurable ways to her family, friends and strangers even to our fault.
Those who knew her could always expect a call on their birthdays, special occasions, and holidays. Dora always went the extra mile to let you know how special you were to her and that you were always remembered.
These were her most admirable qualities.
This complex undefined pillar of strength made her a great provider, and a devoted friend, sister, Aunt, loving grandmother, and committed mother.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen and Alicia, three great grandchildren, Kayla, Chase, Maven, her siblings, Rudy, Jennifer, and Donovan, and a host of nieces, nephew’s second cousin’s and dear friends.
Her spirit, encourage encouragement, and fierce determination will be missed, but we know she is now running free.
Special heartwarming things to family and friends.
Thank you for your prayers, love and support, acts of kindness, and love towards us. May the Lord continue to bless each of your lives for the rest of your years.
