Our deepest sympathies to you all. We first met Dorathy when Todd & Lisa were dating. She was a very kind, thoughtful and fun- loving person. We didn’t see her often, but she was indeed a special lady and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends ❤️❤️ Dave & Mary Query
One of my most recent memories of how wonderful Mom K was, included fingerless mittens... Lisa found some beautiful fingerless mittens and posted them for Mom K to see. I posted that I liked them too. Before I knew it Super cute fingerless mittens came in the mail! It was so emblematic of who she was. She always gave everything she had to those around her. (More stories to come!)
My Mom, Dorathy was a creative independent spirit and marvelous story teller. She loved nature and always looked for images in clouds. We have always called each other on the 1st snow ❄ of the year!

If you've met Dorathy you know she could be the biggest protective momma bear 🐻 in terms of how fiercely she loved and watched over her cubs! Seriously, she'd take on the school board for us if necessary. She once drove overnight to arrive in time for my unexpected surgery and made me homemade chocolate chip cookies for recovery with the help of her granddaughter. To understand her love for me and my brother just look to see it reflected in how I love my own cubs!

And boy of boy, did she love her grandchildren and great granddaughter! My kids excitedly called her the "The Loud Grandma!" when they were really little because loud play was definitely her style--- a whacky parade through the house or the neighborhood was very much her speed and if kids were playing the floor is made of lava you better bet she was jumping on cushions too AND adding sound effects! She was queen of creative play, allowing Jessie to eat her Scooby snacks from her "dog bowl" when Jessie decided to play puppy🐕!

My mom's heart 💗 was full of love not just for family but for all the children that came through the elementary school where she worked. And if the were reading books about mermaids you better bet she came to school with a mermaid tail. A pirate yep a hat and an eye patch! She was able to read her fantastical stories in full costumes when she visited Jackson & Jessie's elementary classrooms! She would bring an extra suitcase for costumes and props!

Plus, she deemed herself a Professional Penny Dropper. Yep, she was the lady in crazy outfits who intentionally drops Pennies wherever she goes in hopes that a child or nice little old man would find it and smile. "Children get excited finding coins, so I make it easy. Just to spread cheer!" was her answer when I asked as she left pennies like bread crumbs from her pocket!

Anyway, that is/was my Mom. I am who I am as a mom and as a therapist because of Dorathy. As a sensitive teen, she'd ask about my day. I'd try to say "Fine" --- but that is the "F word" that was never allowed! I had to tell her what I was really feeling! She taught me that all feelings mattered and now I professionally teach that every day!
