Donnie's obituary

Donnie Paul “Don” Williamson, 80, of Brunswick, passed away at Southeast Georgia Health System on June 9, 2021.

He was born April 10, 1941, in Toombs County to the late Paul and Johnnie Mae McLeod Williamson. As a child, he moved to Brunswick and was a 1960 graduate of Glynn Academy where he played varsity football. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He earned an Associate degree from DeKalb Community College. He then worked as an aerospace engineer for Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems Company and retired after 33 years of service. In 1998, he moved to Cape Coral, FL and lived there until 2012 and moved to Jasper until returning to Brunswick seven months ago.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Williamson was predeceased by his sisters, Myra Faye Wiggins and Jackie Lear; brother, Gettith Williamson; and son-in-law, William “Bill” Craddock.

Mr. Williamson is survived by his wife, Charlotte Atkins Williamson of Brunswick; children, Donna Gehler (Lance) of Mableton, Jimmy Williamson (Michelle) of Fayetteville and Shainti Gary (Brian) of Dahlonega; grandchildren, Grant Gehler, Grace Gehler, Christopher Williamson, Donna Williamson and Colby Craddock; and brothers, Rev. Wayne Williamson (Shirley) of Baxley, David Williamson (Pam) of Brunswick, Mike Williamson (Lynn) of Odum and Tim Williamson of Draper, UT; aunt, Alteen McLeod of Soperton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Williamson was cremated and his ashes will be laid to rest beside his brother Gettith at Pendleton Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Oak Park at a later date. No funeral is planned.

Cremation services were provided by Golden Isles Cremation Center/Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home.
