Dear Michael and Michelle, it is with the most profound sadness, hurt, and love that I write this message to you. Your mother was one of the most incredible amazing human beings that I have ever met! From the first day I met her I completely adored her. It all started one afternoon approximately 35 years ago. The South County YMCA was a very small store front operation on I 45. I stopped by to inquire about helping her volunteering with the first Woodlands marathon and 10 K. Doug Earl said the best way for you to help would be to run it. So I completed the application and turned it in to the front desk which is where Donna was. As I was walking way out the door I heard Donna say “that’s my winner!” This led to a beautiful long lasting relationship between my family and the Valley family. There were many great times that led to many great memories. It seems like every holiday, every Super Bowl, every Monday night game, and every major tournament on the PGA tour was a great reason to get together. I am so grateful for knowing your mom and your family. Donna loved Buck,her children and her grandchildren deeply. I am so grateful for knowing your mom and your family. Donna was so smart, kind and generous. She was a blessing to anyone who had the chance to meet her and gift to us all. At the end of the day, I guess I really was the winner, not in the race, but for having met your mom that day and the Valley family. Cheers to her life and all the lives she touched. Donna and I became close friends the day the Slacks moved next door to the Valley"s in March of 1977 in Jacksonville, Fla. For the next six years we spent a lot of time together and did a lifetime of "living". We cooked, ate, shopped, ate, sewed, ate, watched Michael play golf( we were most often in the clubhouse), did I mention eating. Most of the holidays we spent together, her family from New York we would had baked Turkey and Stuffing, me, from Louisiana had smoked on the grill turkey and cornbread dressin and all the traditional sides from both the north and south, you can imagine how we "grazed " for days. I could write a book about the wonderful wife, mother, neighbor and friend she was, she will always be remembered with love.
