Even though I may not have realized it at the time, my mother was such a great role model as we grew up in the small town of Yoder.

Of course, no matter what… kids will be kids. While playing outdoors, if you made a blunder, you knew right away how Mom felt. Out came the phrase “what are the neighbors going to think”. Those neighbors must have had more than a few laughs over the years. What’s life without a few blunders? I’ll never tell.

She also liked the phrase “just wait until your dad gets home; you need to tell him what you did”. I felt badly for Dad, he seldom knew exactly what Mom wanted him to say or do.

My mother had to pretty much raise us kids on her own while our father tried to juggle up to 3 jobs at a time to pay for the needs of the family.

All of these things together have made me into the person I am today.

Donna was always a classy lady of kind and welcoming ways. We are so grateful to have had a rather recent time around her dinner table visiting and laughing with Debra and Roger and eating homemade pie! Maybe even played a game. A true Hoosier who knew a good pie creates a good time with friends and family! We will always think of her as we pass Yoder on our visits back to Indiana. You are a treasure Donna! Enjoy your new life in Christ!
