Donametric's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Mr. Donametric D. Hambrick, Jr., age 18, of Columbus, Georgia, who left this earthly world to become an angel Thursday, August 14th, 2025.

Affectionately known as “Tank,” he had recently graduated from Kendrick High School, where he was celebrated for his academic excellence—graduating in the top 10 of his class and earning the highest SAT score. His intelligence, dedication, and drive set him apart from an early age. For example, as a 5th grader, he earned the distinction of receiving the highest score on the Georgia Milestones at his school, Parkside Elementary in Atlanta, Georgia.

He was eagerly looking forward to beginning his studies this fall at Savannah State University, made possible by earning Georgia's prestigious HOPE Scholarship. His future was bright, filled with promise, and he was admired for his athletic & artistic talents, kind spirit, and unwavering positivity.

Recently, he joined Holsey Monumental CME Church in Columbus, Georgia, and was being mentored by 100 Black Men of Atlanta, reflecting his desire to grow spiritually and serve his community.

Born to Ms. Lakita Ridley, who preceded him in passing, Donametric was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, student and friend. His warmth, remarkable intelligence, genuine spirit, and generous heart touched all who knew him, including his godmother, Ms. Vernita Jackson, who first met him in 3rd grade at Parkside Elementary when she taught him as a long-term substitute, and always held a special place in his life.

He is survived by his devoted father, Donametric Hambrick, Sr.; his stepmother, Tameka Hambrick; his two sisters: Donamesha Ridley and Sedri’Yonna Johnson, stepbrothers: Dorion Gary and Keyshawn Jones, and his cherished niece and nephew, Journey and Robby.

He leaves behind his maternal great-grandmother, Ms. Betty Ridley, maternal grandparents, Latonya Ridley & Kenneth Stone, and maternal aunts: Telanda, Betty, Nashontis, Kiara, Keanna. He also leaves behind his paternal grandparents, Pamela Hambrick & Jonathan Kendall, Sr, and paternal aunts: Niekia (Pastor Reco) & Keyana, paternal uncles: Jonathan (Chanel), Dominique (Donna), Quantae (April) and Rafael, along with a host of cousins, teachers, mentors and friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

A memorial service to honor Donametric's life will be held in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, August 23rd.

His vibrant spirit, radiant smile, and promising future will forever be missed. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
