Mr. Donald Walker, 80, of Columbus, GA passed Saturday, October 2, 2025.
Buried at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
Donald Walker passed away on October 2, 2025, at the age of 80.
A longtime resident of Columbus, Georgia, Walker was known for his kind heart, infectious smile and deep devotion to God and his family. He proudly served in the United States Army for 23 years, retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his military career, he earned the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. Walker's time in the military allowed him to travel the world, gaining experiences he carried with honor and pride.
After retiring from the military, Walker continued a life of service by working for the State of Georgia and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), where he dedicated himself to assisting many fellow veterans. He was also an active member of The Church of Columbus, where his faith and commitment to serving others remained a guiding light throughout his life.
Beyond his professional and community service, Walker was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Walker Sr., and siblings Patricia, Martin, and Robert. Walker is survived by his children, Vonus (Richard), Valerie (Earl Jr.), and Donald III; his grandchildren, Kiara (fiancé B), Emiley (Dawnoven), and Earl III; his great-grandchildren, Dawnoven Jr. and Audrey; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones that he cherished dearly.
Walker will be remembered as a loving, generous and faithful man whose legacy of service and love will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
