Donald Burton Rix passed away on October 13, 2025, at home in Parkville, Missouri. Donald was born on December 30, 1933, in Cresco, Iowa to Hazel Murphy Rix and Howard James Rix. Don was baptized into Catholic faith and serviced as an altar boy in St. Stephens Catholic Church in Chester, Iowa. Don attended country school in Howard County, Iowa and four years of high school in Lime Springs, Iowa. As soon as he was 18 years old, he joined the US Navy. He served from January 1952 with an honorable discharge in January 1956. He had been stationed in Jacksonville, Florida where he met and married Ronell Weeks. They were married in November 1953. To this union, two children were born: Donald Alan Rix on October 19, 1955, and Robin Ruth Rix on August 5, 1965. Don was employed at Jack Strickland Heating and Air Conditioning from 1956 to 1962. From 1962 to 1989 he was employed by R & R Supply Company. Ronell preceded Donald in death in November 1999. Donald is survived by his two children: Alan (Karen) Rix of St. Augustine, Florida and Robin Rix also of Florida, two grandchildren: Maleah (Travis Baar) Rix and Garrett Rix of St. Augustine, Florida. Don is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Merlin Rix and Arden Rix. He is survived by sister-in-law, Feda Rix of Grimes, Iowa, and Reino Maijala of Prior Lake, Minnesota, a host of nephews and nieces, his lifelong friend, Lamar Jones of Jacksonville, Florida, along with many wonderful friends. In June 2008, Don met again his brother Arden’s sister-in-law, Yvonne Mullins of Parkville, Missouri. They first met when Yvonne was 13 and Don was 15 in LeRoy, Minnesota in October of 1949, when Arden was dating Freda, Yvonne’s Sister. Don and Yvonne exchanged Christian vows in December 2008 at her daughter Shana and Berry Long’s home. They were life partners for 17 years. Yvonne and Don spent their winters in St. Augustine, Florida and summers in Parkville, Missouri until health conditions worsened and they were unable to travel. Don was a faithful United Methodist both in Florida and Missouri. Don is also survived by Yvonne’s children and their families: Colleen and Ron Harp of Springfield, Missouri, David and Shiela Minnehan also of Springfield, Missouri, Kelly and David Eberline of Caro, Michigan and Shana and Berry Long and Harrison Long of Parkville, Missouri. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 3,2025, with Visitation with at 10:00 A.M. both at Platte Woods United Methodist Church at 7310 NW Prairie View Rd, Platte Woods, Missouri 64151. In lieu of flowers, donations suggested to St. Jude or the Platte Woods United Methodist Church. Donnie will be greatly missed by his life partner, Yvonne and his family and friends. We love you very much, Don!
