DONALD GLEN (DON) PERRY
Don Perry, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at home in the presence of family after a long illness on Thursday evening October 17, 2024 at the age of87. Donissurvivedbyhiswifeof49yearsJosephine(Josie)GauciPerryandtheir son Nathan (Nate) [Katie] and grandchildren Blair Perry and Phoebe White [ex-wife
Brooke White] of Los Angeles, sister-in-law Phran Gauci Roth [Don] of Orlando, FL and brother-in-law Robert Gauci [Julie] and nieces and nephews Jaime, Nicole, Joey & Riley Gauci of Millbrae, CA; two children Michael and Mitchell Perry [ex-wife Elizabeth Colleen Perry] and six grandchildren of California and his son Eric Potter (alias Eric Burg) [ex- partner Linda Burg Potter] of Alameda. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack William Perry and Corinne Biggs Perry, his ex-wife Elizabeth Colleen Perry, their son Mark Stephen Perry, and brother Jack Perry, all of San Francisco.
Donwasanintriguingmanandledavariedlife. HeproudlyservedintheUSArmyin the Second Infantry (lndianhead) Division and was a veteran of the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the military in 1957 he became a member of the Frisco Chapter of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club. After his divorce in 1965, he moved up to Alaska where he lived off the land and built himself a log cabin where he lived for a couple of years. He was an accomplished artist using various mediums including oils, charcoal, watercolors and colored pencil on various subjects including portraits, wildlife, Egyptianartifacts,ruins,andstilllife. Helovedmusicandcouldplaypianoandguitar by ear. He loved to listen to jazz, classical, folk, country, alternative, and hard rock music. Heprotestedinthestreets,rodeside-hackandthenwasthemanagerand Dispatcher for Aero Special Delivery in San Francisco, on to Aero Air Freight in Burlingame. DonwasattractedbytheTrinityAlpsandpurchasedsomepropertyback in1971. DonmarriedJosiein1975inSanFranciscoandtheywouldcomeupto Weavervilleandspendvacationscampingoutwhilebuildingalogcabin. Itbecame harder and harder to leave until they moved up to the mountains with their son, Nate, in thefallof1982. DonwenttoworkfortheUSForestServiceintimberandsilviculture and was eventually the Small Sales Officer on the Trinity River Management Unit, Weaverville RD until his retirement in 2002. At that point, he purchased his Harley Dyna Lowrider and he and Josie enjoyed many years of cruising, mostly within California, Oregon&Nevada. DonlovedthedesertandmadeanannualtrektoDeathValleyinto hiseighties. Helovedmotorcycles,particularlyTriumphstothepointwherehehadto visittheTriumphmuseumandfactoryinCoventry,England. Hespentmanyanhour workingonmotorcyclesandevenbuiltonefromscratch. Healsolovedoldcarsand worked on restoring a '48 Ford and other classic cars he came upon along the way. Above all, he enjoyed talking to people, and they, I've come to realize, very much enjoyedtalkingtohim. Donwillbemissedbymany.

Memorial with Military Honors on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery located at 11800 Gas Point Road, Igo, CA 96047 ph:
(530) 396-2429 followed by a Celebration of Life at the Igo-Ono Community Center, 6287 Placer Rd, Igo, CA 96047 ph: (530) 396-2277. A procession will gather at 8:00 a.m. in front of the Forest Service Fire Building, 210 Main Street, Weaverville, CA and proceed to the Cemetery at 8:15 a.m.
