Donald's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Lee Mellott, who departed peacefully on March 22, 2024.
Born on May 23, 1953, Donny was known for his caring, hardworking, and slightly silly personality that brought warmth, laughter, and comfort to those around him.
Donald, though he was affectionately known by many as Donny, was a man of simple pleasures. He had a profound love for music and found joy in the works of Nat King Cole, George Strait, Reba McEntire, and Alan Jackson. His taste in films was distinct and varied, with favorites including It's A Wonderful Life, It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, To Kill A Mockingbird, and The Shawshank Redemption. A fan of Westerns, his love for film was only surpassed by his love for sports. He took great pride in his Baltimore teams and had a special place in his heart for college basketball.
Yet, Donald's greatest joy stemmed not from his hobbies or personal interests, but from the love and care he had for his family. His belief was to always take care of those you love and not to sweat the small stuff, a lesson he lived by and passed on to his children.
Donald is survived by his wife Diana Mellott, his children Kara Mellott, Corey Mellott, Dustin Fifer, and Destiny Mellott, his brother Wayne Mellott, his four grandchildren Armani, Remy, Savannah, Summit. Not to mention the many members of his extended family, friends groups, and work colleagues.
The light that Donald brought into the lives of those he knew will be deeply missed, yet his memory will forever be cherished by his loved ones.
In his honor, let us hold fast to his belief, taking care of those dear to us, bringing into practice the life lesson Donald so authentically embodied.
