Donald's obituary
Donald “Duck” Ray Hunt was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world suddenly on May 10, 2024 at age 70.
His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Duck never changed and stayed strong until the very end.
Duck was born to the late Louise Hunt on May 12, 1953. Soon after completing school, he ventured out on his own traveling frequently before settling down and officially relocating to Buffalo, NY. It was in Buffalo where he met his beautiful wife, Rosalind Dixie-Hunt at Bell’s Supermarket when he was the Head of Security.
He worked at the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) as a mechanic for over 20 years before going out on permanent disability. Duck loved cars so much that after healing, he continued to help anyone he could with their car trouble. If fact, he helped so much that over the years he become well known as a neighborhood mechanic, lending a helping hand to anyone he could.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Hunt. Duck is survived by his wife Rosalind Dixie-Hunt; three children, Natarsha Dixie, Donald Hunt Jr. and Damario (Felecia) Hunt; 4 grandchildren: Dracey, Aniyah, Ryhanna and Damario II; two brothers, Robert W. Hunt of Canton Ohio, and Johnny “Peanut” (Deborah) Hunt, Sr. of Atmore, Alabama; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and loved ones.
To know Duck, was to love Duck. His bright smile, giving heart and strong personality will be missed by all who knew him.
Our family is grateful to know that he is finally at peace.
