Donald Christian Hannah Sr., 90, passed away peacefully in Phoenix surrounded by loved ones on December 28, 2022.

Donald was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 26, 1932. His entrepreneurial career began while attending the University of Virginia where he founded the UVA Polo Club, which operates to this day. After graduation, he served for two years as an officer in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Paris, France.

Donald spent five decades growing Hannah Marine, a tug boat and barge company, into a great lakes and international marine shipping organization. He founded USAuction, acquired a cruise ship for Semester at Sea, and served on a number of board of directors. He was an avid sportsman and an active member of Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) and World Presidents' Organization (WPO).

Donald had a love for business deals or what he called his "irons in the fire". At any given time, he could list out his numerous deals and how each one would become the next great success. Donald was full of life, ideas and creativity until the time of his passing. He was the embodiment of a "fearless entrepreneur". His endeavors took him around the world, meeting many famous and talented people. His energy for life will be missed.

Donald is survived by his children, Don Hannah Jr., Daryl Hannah, Page Adler, Kristin Hannah & Mark Hannah; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Susan W. Hannah, his wife of 30 years, partner Jeannie Pearman, brother James A. Hannah Jr., and sister Peggy Mahoney.

At Don's request, there will be two celebration of life parties in Scottsdale, Arizona and Palm Beach, FL.
