Can't forget the good times we had with Don and Ellen playing golf. After golf Ellen always graciously invited us to dinner with her and Don. These are our best memories.
We, Don’s family, are missing Don especially now at the anniversary of his passing.  We have a life time of wonderful memories.  I am blessed to have spent 54 happy years with Don as my husband and my best friend.  I will always love you, Don.
Sending love to all those who cherish Don. He is held with love in our hearts and remembered through his beautiful family ❤️

As I read through these wonderful memories, my heart is breaking for you and your family, Ellen. I always liked to tease Don and ask if he had a pretzel in his pocket. After I spied him taking one out of his pocket at an event we were both attending. And usually when I asked him, he would reach in and there would be one of those sourdough hard pretzels in his hand.
Always a leader while being a fun guy. Scramblers golf, friend, and supportive husband to his family. Especially allowing Ellen to be a adult to our granddaughter Elliot. So many great memories!

A good friend, always fun to be with, always there to lend a hand, always
had a story to tell...very lucky to know him.
He will truly be missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Don during the Walnut Creek days with Rohm and Haas. While our business responsibilities did not mesh, on a personal level Don was incredible. He was a mentor for happiness and enjoying life. I’ll never forget the surprise fortieth birthday party for me that he organized and the many times he clobbered me on the squash court. But most of all I remember his caring and concern for his family and his many friends. Don and Ellen were special to me and my wife, Jacki.

I was so sorry to hear about Don and am grieving for you, Ellen and your 3.  I have so many fond memories of time with both of you, most around water!  If you feel like getting away, you are always welcome in Eugene.  I would love to spend some time with you and am sorry I was not able to make it to see you both in Florida.  Much love, Gretchen

What a shock when I opened up my phone and saw this terrible news of Don’s passing. Jerry and I send our deepest condolences to his family.

Don and I were baseball battery  mates at McDowell, fraternity brothers at Grove City College, and good friends who had renewed our friendship at a Beta Sigma fraternity reunion in 2010. There I met Ellen for the first time. What a wonderful addition to our group she was. In every yearly reunion since, Don and Ellen have been  "movers and shakers" in the planning and execution of our fun time together. I recall how Don organized the Beta fishing trips with Tom Thompson, and how the one at Hilton Head had almost everyone upchucking over the side of the boat...if I recall correctly, Don started that sequence!

Don had a great smile and sense of humor. It was infectious. And he was so much fun on the golf course. He never let a bad shot bother him, though he did try to test fate on the  course in the Outer Banks, when he insisted on irritating a large water moccasin with his rather short ball retriever.

My heart aches at his passing and my prayers reach out to Ellen and their family. Remember the many good times and try to smile. That is what Don would want. God Bless you all.  Doug
