I am so sorry to hear this news and send my condolences to Susie and all the family.
When I was younger I went to San Diego with my cousin Kate. We stayed with Grandma Susie and Don Don, and did all kinds of fun things. We had a picnic at the beach, walked along the train tracks, went to a tennis match, and tons more. One day Don Don suggested that we go play mini golf, and assured me that if we walked you could see the horse tracks (which is what convinced me to go). As we were walking, Don goes "there's the horse track!" and after looking so far into the distance I finally saw what Don Don called "an amazing view of the horse tracks." We then continued to go to mini golf, and his skills were almost as bad as the view of the horse tracks. Regardless of all these things, Don Don is and was so optimistic and happy no matter what. He had such a good heart and the funniest sense of humor. This week I got to spend in San Diego will always be my favorite memory of him.
My favorite memory of Don is my trip on the Greyhound. As a 6 year old boy I was fascinated by the bus. Grandma Susie and Don were visiting at Christmas time and were kind enough to take me on my first city bus trip. The patience Don showed that day was unbelievable. We waited for over an hour and no bus. Don constantly reassured me the bus would come and sure enough it did. We had a lot of fun and I enjoyed spending the day with Don.
