Don having a great time at one of DMAC's receptions — with Don Coordt
Don was a special, delightful man! He will always be remembered with love!
Don is gone from “home base” but soaring with the angels. We are happy that Don is in heaven and in Gods hands and love. No better place than that!!!! We are all truly blessed that we could experience Dons humor and integrity. His courage and honor can not be surpassed. Dons spirit prevails.
One year later and Don is still with us in spirit and many ways as Kevin his son bought the house that Don built 50 years ago.. very special for Kevin and Chene and their kids and know that Don is looking down and watching in excitement ...
Uncle Don used to let me win at arm-wrestling as a young little muppet in his home & it was soooo much fun!

With Love & Gratitude for his Wisdom, Strength of Character, & Playfulness. May Uncle Don's Spirit Rest in Peace.

NAMASTE

I am saddened to learn of Don’s passing. My late husband, Steve, and I enjoyed so much being around Don-he was fun, smart, and such a gentleman! I am wishing you the best, Susie and family. It is difficult, but he was so special-you have so many wonderful and warm memories.

This painting by Don hangs near my front door; it's the first thing I see when I enter or leave my home. I will always have good memories of the time I spent with him and Susie. He was a good soul.
I remember meeting Don for the first time during a UCSD Masters swim workout. He mentioned that he lived both in TX and CA. I was born in San Antonio and have live in San Diego, so we would talk about TX. He was really fun to work out with in the pool and the pool's gym. Most of our conversations were on swimming and fitness but we joked around with each other as well. I miss him. He was a very positive presence in my life and his memory will never leave me. My sympathies go out to his family and many friends. Glen

We miss Uncle Don and his cute teasing and sense of humor. Don was a member of Del Mar Rotary when I joined and he donated many pictures to our charitable fundraisers. This is one of our favorites that is hanging in our home. It is a water color if Dog beach.
Del Mar will always remember Don through his art work. We love him. Sharyn and the Daly girls
I don't have just one story to tell. I have lots of memories of Don's one-liners--so witty and so laughable. He would always do it with a straight face, which made his comment even funnier.
I loved his art work--displayed so perfectly in the Coordt home in Del Mar.
He's a guardian angel now to his beloved wife and my friend, Susie, as well as to his children and grandchildren. I have no doubt of that!
Growing up, I was blessed with the opportunity to make lots of memories with Don, all of which were full of laughter and witty jokes. Don had the most youthful spirit and was so easy to talk to. Many memories of ours make me smile, but in recent days I have been rereading one letter in particular that he wrote me this summer. While I was working at a camp, I was so excited to receive a letter from Don. His letter began by talking about his time as a Boy Scout. He then updated me about a visit with his grandchildren, Kai and Kaila, and told me how much fun he’d had with them. He detailed the exact ocean temperatures of that morning and informed me that he had chosen to swim in the much warmer indoor pool. Lastly, he asked me many questions about how I was doing at camp, and he doodled a bike rider at the bottom of the page. All of these little details seem rather insignificant. However, they reveal a much greater message to me every time that I read this letter. It demonstrates his adventurous spirit and love for life. It highlights the passion that Don approached everything in his life with, specifically his swimming and art. Most importantly, the letter shows how greatly he cared for each and every member of his family. Don always wanted updates on the little details of each of our lives and was constantly checking in. Don was an amazing grandfather. His warm and caring heart will be greatly missed, but I am so thankful to have all of our amazing memories.

Our sweet Don Don,
I don't even know where to start. Dinner with Don was never boring. He was the KING of dad jokes. We could never stop laughing- especially once he realized how funny his jokes were. His laugh was seriously infectious. I thought through so many stories from us bonding over our dislike of Hannah the peloton instructor to seeing how proud he was when showing Sarah and I his paintings, but settled on one that never fails to make me smile. A couple years ago, my family went to the trail of lights along with Don and Grandma Susie. The couple INSISTED on wearing their reindeer antlers. Sarah and I were mortified, and begged them to take them off. They refused and then made it 100 times worse. While waiting in line absolutely freezing, the two decided that they would put on a show. There was singing and seemingly choreographed dancing. At this point, Sarah and I gave up on being embarrassed and fell into a fit of giggles. I am making it my mission to find the video of this and will post it as soon I do.
As you can see, I have nothing but happy memories with sweet Don Don and will cherish them forever.
Christmas time with Don is a memory I will always cherish! He brought so much joy, amazing puppeteering skills, and wonderful singing to the Hamilton church pew. Don will be deeply missed but the memories will last a lifetime!
