My favorite memory of Aunt Dolores was when she would tell me I look just like her!

Dolores will always be in our hearts. She was always so interested in hearing about what the kids were doing. She  always prided herself  on how sharp her brain was!

I’ll always remember her and Uncle Eddie making Pasteles!

She was my favorite Auntie and I only wish I could have said good bye to her :(

I miss our phone calls.  We would talk about politics, the kids, scrabble,  and so many  other topics.  She would have easy conversations with Sam.

She made me a Halloween costume when I was a little girl. I was a little Dutch girl!

Rest in Peace and now you are with your family and back into the arms of uncle Eddie.

Thank you Carol for taking such great care of  Dolores for the last 15 years. She wouldn’t have had such a long life if it wasn’t for you.

The roses arrangement is hard…
The roses arrangement is hard to see here because it's a screen capture from the live stream, but it was stunningly beautiful. The florist really put a lot of care and talent into it, and I believe Aunt Dolores would have thought it was beautiful.

Floral Wreath at Aunt Dolores…
Floral Wreath at Aunt Dolores' burial ceremony. The priest said touching, heartfelt prayers in both English and Spanish.

Dear Carol,

We're so very sorry for your loss.  Sending you hugs and love,

Dean, Maria, and Bella

I’m so sorry to hear such sad news. Aunt Dolores was a fine, caring, loving woman. Who taught us all how to care for others in such a loving manner. Sending hugs and prayers.
Love,
Doreen
I spent many hours playing pinochle with Dolores and talking about Puerto Rico and the Bronx. Through Dolores's description we found their childhood home on Google Street View. Over the years I had the pleasure of knowing and visiting with the precious generation of sisters. Mary, Dolores, Hilda, Vicky, and Elsa. The generation is physically gone but lives on in our thoughts and hearts. Such fond memories and each leaving a wonderful legacy in our lives and in this world.

I was happy to be Delores' sister-in-law since 1959.  She was a beautiful woman, inside and out, and the "Guardian Angel" of our large family.  My late husband, Ignacio Cotto, told me of his memories as a little boy of Delores taking him to see the spectacular color movies that were romances or musicals in the 2 theatres we had in the South Bronx during the 1940's and 50's.  I will miss talking to her on the phone, since she sounded like she did in the 50's, and always made me feel young with our combined memories of the past.  She loved her nieces and nephews, and enjoyed seeing resemblances to her siblings in their children.  She secretly felt that her pasteles and rice and beans were the best, too, and took pride in having everyone visit.  She's the last of a beautiful family, who gave us all the precious lessons of life---loving God, family, and perseverance through any hardships with strength and class.  May her wonderful family and the angels welcome her into God's presence.

Love you, Delores
