Diego's obituary
Diego Fabian Restrepo, 17, of Orlando, Florida, was taken far too soon from everyone who loved him. A bright light with an even brighter future ahead of him, Diego passed away after being struck by a reckless, drunk driver. He was everything a son, a brother, and a friend could be, and the world is a lesser place without him in it.
Diego was a proud member of the Timber Creek High School baseball team, where he showed the same dedication and heart on the field that he brought to every corner of his life. He had a gift for making the people around him feel at ease, whether that was spending a lazy afternoon watching movies, getting lost in a video game with his friends, or simply being present in a way that made everyone around him feel seen.
Those who knew Diego well knew that his quiet nature was never a wall; it was a door. He was naturally shy and took his time letting people in, but once he did, the friendships he formed were the kind that last a lifetime. Diego was deeply empathetic, the type of person who noticed when something was wrong before you even said a word. He felt things deeply and loved even more deeply. The friends he leaves behind were not just people he hung around with; they were chosen family, and the bond they shared with him was something truly special that none of them will ever forget.
Diego had his whole life mapped out in front of him. He dreamed of becoming a medical engineer, driven by a desire to help people in ways that mattered. That dream was well on its way to becoming reality. Just recently, Diego celebrated one of the proudest moments of his young life, his acceptance to the University of Central Florida for the fall of 2026. He was ready. He was so ready.
He is survived by his loving parents, Maria and Sergio Restrepo, his siblings Phoebe, Sierra, and Luca, and by the many dear friends whose lives he touched in ways they will carry with them forever.
Diego did not just pass through this world. He lit it up. Rest easy. You earned it.
