Diane's obituary
Diane Susan Ketterer Tagle
October 13, 1945 – October 19, 2025
National City, CA
Diane was known for her kind heart, genuine warmth, and was always ready to listen. She welcomed everyone she met as part of her family. Diane was born in Eau Claire Wisconsin to Frank and Lorraine Ketterer. Her father was an officer in the US Navy and her mother was a nurse. Because of her father’s naval career, Diane held the traditions and pride of the US Navy close to her heart. She spent time growing up in the Philippines and Hawaii. She attended George Dewey High School in Subic Bay and graduated from Regina Coeli Academy in San Diego in 1963. Her sister Laurie Ketterer Engel lives in San Marcos. Her brother Jim Ketterer lives in Ramona.
Diane’s family moved to San Diego, settling in National City. She met her husband Larry while working at Montgomery Ward. Together they travelled the world visiting Australia, Asia, North America, South America and Europe. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary together in September. Diane and Larry have 3 children Kim(Sechler), Keri(King) and Scott(Tagle). They were also blessed with 3 grandchildren Kalea(21), Makai(19) and Justin(19).
Diane worked for the Chula Vista Elementary School District as an attendance/health clerk mainly at Greg Rogers for about 20 years. Being devout Catholics, Diane and Larry sent their children to elementary school at St. Rose of Lima school where Diane worked as a receptionist in the rectory. Their children then attended high school at St. Augustine and the Academy of Our Lady of Peace. She volunteered at The Boys and Girls Club of National City and was a member of the Board of Directors.
Diane recently celebrated her 80th birthday and was able to spend the milestone with her family by her bedside. After a long illness including Parkinson’s, Diane passed with her husband, children and siblings by her side. She has been cremated. As part of her wishes part of her ashes will be interned at Greenwood Mausoleum in San Diego and one day her husband Larry will join her. As she wished, the other part of her ashes will be spread in the ocean off Maui where her daughter Keri has a home.
A service is scheduled for Saturday January 31st at 10:00am at St. Rose of Lima Church in Chula Vista. A celebration of life will be held at The Chula Vista Golf Course in the Vista Room(4475 Bonita Road, Bonita) immediately following. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to the National City Boys and Girls Club. https://www.sdyouth.org/give-… (PLEASE SPECIFY - For the National City Branch in the comments).
