Diane's obituary
Dianna Lynn Skelton Rodgers, 65, of Bear, Delaware, passed away on July 9, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington Delaware after a brave battle with esophageal cancer.
Diane was born in Springfield, Ohio in 1959 to John and Ann Skelton, the oldest of their four children. She attended Northwestern High School in Springfield, Ohio before meeting her husband Samuel Rodgers, whom she married in 1979. She and her husband enjoyed camping, ballroom dancing, and cheering on the Cleveland Browns. In 1995 they welcomed their daughter Stephanie with whom she would spend countless days shopping, traveling, and eating at their favorite Mexican restaurants. Throughout the years Diane has lived in Ohio, Indiana, Florida, and eventually Delaware where she worked as a lunch lady for the Delaware Public Schools, spending the majority of her career at W.B. Simpson Elementary School. Diane was an active member of the United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School for 15 years. She enjoyed cooking and baking, winning several awards for her pies. Diane also loved spending time with her family and friends and was a joy to all that met her.
Diane was preceded in death by her father, John Skelton Sr. , her brother John Skelton Jr. and her grandmother, Nora Lewis, and is survived by her husband of 45 years, Sam Rodgers, daughter, Stephanie Rodgers, son-in-law, Robert Josefowski, mother, Ann Skelton, sister, April Skelton, brother, Ronald (Kelly) Skelton, and her nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on July 20, 2024 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Odessa, Delaware. All are welcome to attend.
