Diane's obituary

Memories of Diane

Diane Hope Skeete-White, was born on September 30, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY, to Dorothy Natta-Skeete and Wilfred Skeete, who both preceded Her in death.

Diane was a Brooklynite - Born and Bred, where She attended George W. Wingate High School. She was a good and conscientious student, who went on to continue Her education at Hunter College, where She proudly received both Her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in psychology and social work respectively, later earning her License in Social Work.

One of Diane’s most meaningful and responsible career positions involved coordinating and providing higher education resource information for many of Her college-bound clients. Diane then went on to work as a recreational therapist for Manhattan Developmental Center, working with individuals with intellectual disabilities. Finally, transitioning to a New York State Mental Health Coordinator, at The Bronx Psychiatric Hospital, from which She retired, Diane counseled, and provided vital resource information to individuals with mental health disabilities.

Diane met, then later married Theodore (Teddy) White in May of 1979, who was also from Brooklyn, NY; followed by the birth of their beloved daughter, Dine’ Hope Ashley White, in 1980.

Shortly after Dine’s birth, Teddy, Diane and Dine’ moved to Pomona, NY, where they resided for the next 35-Years, until subsequently relocating to Maryland.

Diane and Teddy loved to travel. One of their most rewarding trips was to the Motherland, Africa; there, they visited Tanzania, Zanzibar, Dar es Salam and Arusha.

Diane and Teddy enjoyed many happy years together, before his untimely passing in 2020.

Diane always enjoyed our family time together. My fondest memories were of our numerous family gatherings — with many generations of our beloved family members — full of laughter, music, great food — good times and above all Family, Love, & Togetherness!

Dear Diane, many await your arrival into the Kingdom of Heaven!

Your Beloved Teddy, Mom Dorothy, along with all of our Dearly departed Family Members — who are all waiting to welcome You into the Heavenly Kingdom!!!

Diane leaves to mourn Her devoted daughter, Dine’, Cousin/God-Sister Linda, Sister-in-law Kayrn (Kugie), Brother-in-law Carl (Junie), Brother-in-law Frank, Sister-in-law Mary, Granddaughter Evin, step-daughter Dierdre, a host of devoted Cousins, extended Family and many, many Friends.

Lovingly Submitted,

—The Family

“I Have Fought the Good Fight. I Have Finished My Course. I Have Kept the Faith;

Henceforth, there is laid up for Me A Crown of Righteousness, which The Lord —

The Righteous Judge, Shall Give Me on That Day: and Not To Me Only, but Unto All of Them Also That Love His Appearing.”
