Diana's obituary

In Loving Memory of Diana Christine (Kolb) Todd

July 31, 1955 - March 15, 2023

Diana Christine (Kolb) Todd, age 67, joined her beloved husband, Michael Ray Todd, in heaven on March 15, 2023. Diana was born July 31, 1955 in Amarillo, Texas.

She passed away at the Ascension Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle, Texas due to complications from heart disease and diabetes. She was at peace with it and said she was ready to go. 💞

Being the firstborn child of a USAF family, Diana endured many moves during her lifetime; Amarillo, TX to Fairbanks, Alaska; Kansas City, Missouri; Gage, Oklahoma; Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio; Shattuck, Oklahoma; then ultimately returning to her birth state, Texas!

After returning from Vietnam in 1969, her dad was nearing retirement and the family moved to Seguin, TX. He was stationed at Randolph Air Force Base, and purchased their final family home in Marion, TX in 1971.

Diana graduated from Marion High School as Salutatorian in 1973. She married soon after graduation and had her son, Ryan Craig Burleson on October 8, 1973. Her first marriage only lasted a couple of years.

Diana then moved to San Antonio with her sister and nephew, Cheryl & Jimmy Kolb. In 1976 they moved to Converse, Texas where she lived for the next 12 years. Her sister, Cheryl, moved into the house next door in 1978. Diana was remarried to Alfonso Aleman for a few years, then divorced. Afterwards she moved to San Antonio, Texas where she met the love of her life, Michael Ray Todd, her third and final husband! The third time was the charm! 😁💒💍💐🔔❤️

Diana resided in Marion, Texas since 2013 with her dad and brother. She moved back to her family home soon after her husband passed away. Prior to Marion, she lived in San Antonio, TX over 20 years, where she was employed as an electronic technician at OEM, Oilfield Equipment Marketing, Inc. for many years.

Diana is survived by her son, Ryan Craig Burleson-Cibolo, TX, father; Gary Delano Kolb-Marion, TX, brother; Tracy Earl Kolb-Marion, TX, sister; Cheryl Lorraine (Kolb, Casillas) Mora (Ben) San Antonio, TX, nephew; David Michael Casillas-Universal City, TX, grand-niece; Megan Juliann Kolb, grand-nephew; Joseph Ian Kolb, grand-nephew; Jeremy Luna, great grand-nephew- Andres Jose Contreras-all of San Antonio, TX, aunts; Debbie Martin & Sheila Martin-Jefferson City, Missouri, uncle; Donald A. Wells, cousins; Randie Wells (Sheila) Jon Wells (Denise) Guymon, Oklahoma, cousins; Elaine (Janet) Patterson (Freese)-Peoria, Illinois, Kara Patterson Schwarzendruber (Greg) Austin, TX, and many more distant cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Ray Todd-San Antonio, TX, Mother; Eleanor Mae Hammock Kolb-Marion, TX, nephew; Jimmy Dwane Kolb, maternal grandfather; Charles Earl Hammock, maternal grandmother; Mary Ellen (Lovell) Hammock-Shattuck, Oklahoma, aunt; Laura Janet Hammock-Shattuck, Oklahoma, Aunt; Joann L. (Hammock) Wells-Guymon Oklahoma, paternal grandparents; Pershing (Parker Kolb) Martin (Russell)-Dixon, Missouri, grandfather; Herman Kolb

Diana was passionately involved in genealogy research for her family history, she loved animals, especially her beloved dachshund, Sarah, who preceded her in death, and her Tuxedo cat named Boots, who's location is still unknown. Unfortunately, he ran away shortly after the move to Marion after Mike passed away, being nervous in the unfamiliar environment. So not only did she lose her husband, but also her beloved furbaby. She was an avid photographer, and especially enjoyed taking pictures of animals, birds, insects and landscapes. She loved blueberry pancakes at IHOP, seafood at Red Lobster & Sea Island. Diana also enjoyed barbecuing, swimming, and going to the lake. She loved music; played the clarinet in her school band, self-taught herself piano, and was very good too! Diana was also quite an artist, also self-taught via online painting courses. 👩‍🎨🖌️🎨🖼️  She could knit, crochet, and was quite a computer wiz too! 👩‍💻

Her husband, Mike, dedicated a song to her on the radio, by Randy Travis called "Forever and Ever Amen" which we plan to play at her funeral.

The only concert Diana ever went to with Mike was Randy Travis and K.T. Oslin at the Hemisfair Arena. Randy sang that song then, Sunday, March 19, 1989 on their honeymoon in downtown San Antonio.

The part "As sure as I live, this love that I give is gonna be yours until the day that I die" is the part that always got Diana very emotional after Mike's death.

Diana kept a cassette tape 📼 of the recording of Mike dedicating this song to her on the radio. ❤️📻🎶 He remembered the album name "Always and Forever" when he made the request, but not the song name, yet they played the right song and she taped it as well.

In an email to her sister, Cheryl, Diana said this in 2014…

"That song still gets to me every time I hear it. And another year has gone by. Just hard to believe he's gone, even now."

We have comfort knowing Diana has joined her husband in heaven. ❤️

Lyrics to…

"Forever and Ever Amen"

You may think that I'm talkin' foolish

You've heard that I'm wild and I'm free

You may wonder how, I can promise you now

This love that I feel for you always will be

But you're not just time that I'm killin'

I'm no longer one of those guys

As sure as I live, this love that I give

Is gonna be yours until the day that I die

Oh, baby! I'm gonna love you forever, forever and ever, Amen!

As long as old men sit n' talk about the weather

As long as old women sit n' talk about old men

If you wonder how long I'll be faithful

I'll be happy to tell you again

I'm gonna love you forever and ever, forever and ever, Amen!

They say that time takes it's toll on a body

Makes a young girl's brown hair turn gray

But, honey, I don't care, I ain't in love with your hair

And if it all fell out, well, I'd love you anyway

They say time can play tricks on a memory

Make people forget things they knew

Well, it's easy to see, it's happenin' to me

I've already forgotten every woman but you

Oh, darlin'! I'm gonna love you forever, forever and ever, Amen!

As long as old men sit n' talk about the weather

As long as old women sit n' talk about old men

If you wonder how long I'll be faithful

Well, just listen to how this song ends

I'm gonna love you forever and ever, forever and ever, Amen!

I'm gonna love you forever and ever, forever and ever

Forever and ever, forever and ever, Amen! 💞
