Diana's obituary
Diana M. Kelley (née Halsey), 75, was called home for her eternal rest on December 25, 2022, after a short illness.
Diana was born on October 25, 1947, in Brooklyn, NY, spent her childhood in Wichita, KS, and lived most of her adult life in Edmond, OK. She graduated from Cottey College and earned her B.A. in Education from Wichita State University in 1969. In the 1970s, she received a direct commission to First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and later received an honorable discharge. She held a master’s degree in Elementary Education from Central State University (now the University of Central Oklahoma).
Diana loved raising children (her own and as a nanny). She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of OKC for over twenty years. She was a lifelong member of P.E.O. and D.A.R. She enjoyed teaching English and American culture to international students and people from other countries.
Diana worked various jobs in life, notably as a teacher, seamstress, nanny, and preparing meals for her fellow congregants at church. She owned a small sewing shop in Edmond for several years; the name she chose, “Among Friends,” exemplified her passion for the people she met throughout her life.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents, N. Marciadene Halsey and William Halsey, and her brother, Kirk Halsey.
She is survived by her two loving daughters, Sara Kelley (wife, Teresa) of San Diego, CA, and Rebecca Kelley of Edmond, OK; a grandson of San Diego, CA; and many friends whose lives she touched in countless ways.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection and Celebration of Diana's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023, in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City (1001 NW 25th St.) with Pastor McKinnon officiating. It will be followed by a reception in the Parlor. All friends and acquaintances are welcome to attend to honor and celebrate Diana’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the First Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City (www.fpcokc.org)
