Devon's obituary
We mourn the untimely passing of Mr. Devon Cornelius Cooper on December 27, 2025. Born on August 27, 1990, Devon carried himself with a calm, down-to-earth presence, and his bright, radiant smile revealed both his intelligence and his warmth. Being around him felt inviting, familiar, and genuine. He was a man of great generosity, always putting others before himself, and had an innate ability to light up any room with his gregarious personality.
Devon will be fondly remembered for his unparalleled kindness, compassion, and love, which he extended to everyone he knew. His legacy is imbued with these virtues that so deeply characterised his life. He encouraged all to be genuine, and his mantra was to "be yourself and smile while doing it". This lesson from Devon is one that will continue to guide those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Devon was an esteemed police officer and was known for his commitment and dedication to his job. Prior to his service in law enforcement, Devon was a student athlete, where he demonstrated his tenacity and indomitable spirit. His accomplishments in both these arenas were a testament to his character and his ability to inspire those around him.
He is survived by his loving He is survived by his mother Argie Cooper-Brown, his stepfather Darrin Tracy Brown, his sister‘s LaQuita Cooper and Cornesha Cooper and his nephew Tyson Nicholas Wagner and his father Louis Brooks III, Brandi Martin, Nicole Brooks, Louis Brooks IV, and Brenda Brooks and a multitude of family members and friends. along with Devon's many friends, colleagues, and classmates. The void left by Devon's passing will undoubtedly be palpable, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to be a part of his life.
A funeral service in honor of Devon will be held on January 3, 2026, at 9:00 PM at Greater New Canney Creek Missionary Baptist Church. We invite everyone to come and pay their respects to a man whose spirit was as large as his heart. Devon will be profoundly missed, but his legacy of kindness, compassion, and love will endure.
