Deverly's obituary
Born on October 13, 1951, in Browns Hall, Jamaica, Deverly lived a life rooted in purpose, grace, and unshakable faith. A devoted educator, she spent over 50 years shaping young minds with patience, compassion, and a fierce commitment to learning. Her legacy as a teacher endures in the countless lives she touched across generations.
Deverly’s love for God was the foundation of her life. A faithful servant, she lived according to His word, radiating kindness, strength, and humility in all that she did. Her unwavering faith was a beacon for her family and community — a guiding light that never dimmed.
She was the beloved wife of Fabian Grant, with whom she shared a life filled with love and devotion. She is survived by her cherished children: Leota Grant, Dinesha Grant, and Paul Grant. She is preceded in death by her dear son, Garnette Grant.
Deverly was one of eight siblings. She is survived by Gilbert Charlton, Leslie Charlton, and George Petterson, and joins in eternal rest her siblings Ferland Charlton, Clovis Charlton, Vida Walker, and Cleolyn Thomas.
Her wisdom, gentle spirit, and boundless love will be remembered always. Deverly’s life was a testament to service — to her students, her family, her church, and her God.
“Her children arise and call her blessed...” – Proverbs 31:28
May her soul rest in perfect peace.
