Desiree's obituary

Desiree Williams was born July 10, 1944 to the union of Charles and Flora Jenkins. She was the eldest of 4 children. She received her secular education in Chicago Heights, IL. Desiree later embraced her spiritual education and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1969, at the International Convention held at White Sox Park in Chicago, IL. Desiree was affectionately known to family and friends as Bae, Dee, Ma, Granny and Auntie Dee.

In 1979 Desiree relocated to Houston, TX when she could no longer tolerate the harsh Chicago winter season. On February 20, 1981 Desiree married the love of her life, William (Bill) Williams. Together they have faithfully served Jehovah. Desiree continued to embrace her spiritual training and later became a regular pioneer in 1987. She enjoyed the privilege of attending 3 pioneer school classes and was looking forward to her 4th class this year, while serving in the North Pflugerville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Desiree and Bill loved to travel. They went on several cruises and attended International conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide. Although not in the best of health, in 2018 Dee planned and took a trip to Italy which she immensely enjoyed. In the end, we are were happy she was able to make her dream trip.

Desiree was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2010 with a then prognosis of about 8 months. But we all know her story. Dee’s tenacity and fight allowed her to live a good personal and spiritual life for almost another 10 years, until here recently. She enjoyed her ministry and participated as fully as possible, including cart witnessing. She and Bill also made many lifelong friends while living in San Antonio, TX and now here in Pflugerville. Desiree loved good food, dancing, reading, spending time with family and friends, decorating her home and playing games, especially Bid Whist.

Desiree trusted in the promise of the resurrection to life here on Paradise earth as promised in the Bible at John 5:28, 29 and Psalms 37:11. Make no mistake about it and remember this Desiree did not give up, she fought until her body gave out. Desiree was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Flora Jenkins, 2 brothers, Bruce and Roy Jenkins, and 2 grandsons, Christopher and Patrick.

She leaves to mourn her death, devoted husband of 39 years, William; 1 son, Clifton Cole, Jr of Lansing, IL; 3 daughters, Dallareese (Clarence) Pennie of Round Rock, TX; Robina Denise Cole of Houston, TX; and Shari LaTrice Curry of Houston, TX; 1 brother, David (LaDonna) Jenkins of Park Forest, IL; 2 granddaughters, Dontavia LaReese (Christopher) Thompson of Park Forest, IL (who unselfishly returned home to care for her Granny until her death); Alyssa MaKayla Curry; 2 grandsons, Alonzo Devon Hoover and Jaylen DeVaughnte Curry and 4 great grandkids. A host of nephews, nieces, countless cousins, personal and spiritual family and friends, too numerous to mention by name but you know who you are and the special place you held in Desiree’s heart.
In conclusion, Bae, Ma, Sis, Granny, Auntie Dee, you will sleep but a short time until we see you again!
