Desiree's obituary
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Desiree Spence. Born on the 18th of March, 1950, Desiree completed her earthly journey on the 25th of December, 2025.
Desiree had a heart filled with love for her family and God. She was a reserved individual who cherished laughter and the subtle joys of life. She always remained a humble presence, preferring not to be the center of attention but always there when needed, providing strength and comfort. Her advice was a reflection of her admirable character, encouraging others to pursue their ambitions in education, to love their family unconditionally, and to be wise and prudent by saving money.
Desiree's professional dedication was exemplified in her 20 years of service at the Verizon Phone Company, a testament to her commitment, diligence, and perseverance. Yet, despite her professional achievements, it was her family that she considered her greatest accomplishment and legacy.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Gayle Spence and Shakima Brooks. Grandchildren: Deidre Grossbiel, Chloe McMillion, Kiernan McMillion, Yasmine Rosa, Sierra McMillion, and Gabrielle Brooks. Desiree's legacy continues in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Her spirit, her influences, and her teachings live on in each of them, a testament to Desiree’s valuable life.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Desiree Spence will be held on the 17th of January, 2026, at 12:00 PM at 1515 NE 3rd St. As we gather to reminisce and remember, let us honor and treasure the memories, love, and lessons that Desiree has left us.
