Desireé's obituary

Desireé L. (Duguay) Scrimger, 68, of Lee, Massachusetts, passed away at home on December 21, 2025, surrounded by her friends and family.

Desireé, born on October 16, 1957, to Robert G. Duguay and Carole L. DuBois (Duguay née Conely) in Dorchester, Massachusetts where she immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. Desireé went on to graduate from North Weymouth High School in 1976 and directly entered the workforce as an insurance clerk. Following brief stints as an order entry supervisor for a manufacturing company and as a broker assistant for an investment company, Desireé returned to the insurance industry and worked 46 years in Commercial Insurance as a manager, agent and underwriter. She was forced into retirement in 2023 by the disease which eventually took her life.

In May of 1978 she met Robert K. (Rob) Scrimger. The two were married in July of 1979 and remained so until the Lord took her home. Rob's career as a US Navy submariner took Desireé from her native South Shore to stations in Virginia Beach, VA, Groton, CT and a near 20-year residency in the Kitsap County area of western Washington, a place they both loved and never thought they would leave. However, God had other ideas. In May of 1998 Desireé gave birth to Jessica Joy Scrimger at age 40. As Jess grew up, the lack of immediate family anywhere nearby lead to the family's return to New England, her native locale. Desireé was a fiercely devoted and dedicated working Mom, inspiring Jessica to become a medical professional as a Medical Laboratory Scientist destined to accomplish great things.

Beyond her roles as loving wife and mother, Desiree always found the best in people. Her loving heart, endearing smile and genuine belief in the goodness of people easily created enduring friendships. She loved to entertain, travel, dance and sing! An animal lover, she always had pets and fed the birds, especially hummingbirds.

The most important relationship in Desireé’s life is the one which will live through eternity, that is her relationship with Jesus. Desireé’s love of the Lord was demonstrated by her tireless volunteer involvement in every church the family called home. The void created by her absence is impossible to fill; her kindness, grace, beauty and faith are eternal.

Desireé was predeceased by her parents Robert G. (Duke) Duguay and Carole L. (Conley) DuBois, Stepfather George A. Dubois and beloved Aunt Sandra A. Dushame.

She is survived by husband Rob and daughter Jessica Joy. Siblings are brother Robert G. Duguay Jr., sister Carolyn (Duguay) Hall and her beloved nieces and nephews from both sides. Also survived by cousins Leo Venuti, the late Corrina Venuti and Joanne L. DeCelle with whom the relationship was more as a sister than a cousin.

Our beautiful Desireé was taken from us by a terribly slow-acting and rare disease called Corticobasal Syndrome (aka Corticobasal Degeneration). In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to CURE PSP at the link below.

This organization is the primary source of research for CBD/CBS and related diseases. In her final act of love, Desireé wanted to donate whatever tissue was needed in the search for a cure, which the family fulfilled.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1pm Saturday, January 17th 2026, at New Life Church, 172 Hubbard Ave, Pittsfield MA, 01201.

A second service in an Eastern MA location will be announced when confirmed.
