Cousin, and Friend
Wilson was born September 09, 1994 to Tamika
Wilson and Ben McDonald. He confessed his life at an early age at Bishop Isaiah
Jackson Worship Center, Birmingham, AL. He was called home on January 21,
2020.
DeRunnya grew up in the Smithfield Community, he was very determined,
outgoing, funny, hard working, and unstoppable. He never gave up the opportunity
to laugh or to be a wonderful father.
DeRunnya was a graduate of Wenonah High School Class of 2011 and later
furthered his education at Mississippi State University where he continued to play
football and basketball.
DeRunnya lived a very exciting life. He was a great father to his five kids, a loving
son, a devoted brother, an awesome grandson, and most of all a Child of God. Bear
was someone you really trust and rely on. A true friend, supporter, and loving role
model.
DeRunnya was named Alabamas Mr. Basket Ball in 2013 was an elite receive at
MSU where he teamed with Dak Prescott to form the most prolific quarter back to
receiver TD combo in MSU History. His background in sport speaks for itself a 3x
area mvp, 3x regional mvp, 1x final and mvp, North-South all star mvp, 2x
Birmingham metro player of the year, 1x Gatorade player of the year, Mississippi
vs Alabama all star mvp, 10x Birmingham Coca-Cola Player of the week, 2x Sa
Player of the Year, 3x State Champion, Birmingham athlete partnership player of
the year, and The Birmingham Kiwanis Club and Jefferson County Athlete of the
year award Football and Basketball.
DeRunnya was preceded in death by his grandfather, Billy Wilson.
DeRunnya leaves to carry on his legacy: A loving and devoted mother, Tamika
Wilson; father, Ben McDonald; one son, Kash Hughes; four daughters, DeRiyah
Wilson, Haelyn Wilson, Caya Wilson, Lakeyn Wilson; five sisters, Terracena
Wilson, Jerika Wilson, TreMeka Morton, Joycetta McDonald, Alexus McDonald;
six brothers, Martez Wilson, Walter Witson, Bendarious McDonald, Marquez
McDonald, Ben McDonald, Jermaine McDonald; one niece, Azariyah Wilson; two
nephews, Tyler Wilson and Terrance Wilson; two grandmothers, Pearlie Mae
Wilson and Henrietta McDonald; along with a host of wonderful aunts, uncles,
cousins, and friends.
