Derrick's obituary
Derrick Daniell, 56, of Holtville, CA, went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2022 after a short illness.
Derrick was born on January 22, 1966 to Bill and Shirley Daniell in Calexico, CA. After graduating from Holtville High School in 1984, he went on to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Cuesta Community College. Later, he settled in the Central Valley for a number of years and worked in the produce industry.
Throughout his life, Derrick enjoyed numerous outdoor hobbies - camping, fishing, hunting, off roading, scuba diving, wood working, and bicycling. Another one of Derrick's passions was food. He was known for his mouth-watering barbecued meats and flavorful beans. Through this passion, Double D Seasonings was born. Recently, Derrick and his team participated in the Imperial Tri-Tip Cook Off where they used his Double D Seasonings to clinch the win for best tri-tip.
Derrick was predeceased by his father, Bill Daniell; maternal grandparents, Emily and Clinton Sprague; paternal grandparents, Etta and Thomas Daniell. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Daniell; sisters, Delu Plourd (Jeff) and DeEtte Daniell; nephews, Blake Plourd (Autumn) and Cammeron Cooper (Kari); nieces, Brooke Plourd and Jordyn Kloeppel (Beau).
Celebration of Life will be held at Cornerstone Community Church in Holtville on October 29, 2022 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
