My condolences goes out to the Arrey family during this painful time. I met derrick a few times at magma and all I can say is he was a very jovial person and always smiling. During my senior year of class 2021 I didn’t really know Derrick like that but me and him had biology class together in 4th hour and I will always see him walking to class with a smile on his face and he will say hi to me everyday when he walks pass me to get in line in our 4th hour class that we had together. Me and Derrick we’re both seniors in that sophomore class. He was a chill and layback kid he was so smart he will enjoy himself when we get in groups and work together and he was very sweet and kind to me all the time I will help him out when he needed me to help him I was always there for him in 4th hour everyday. after we all had made it to the end of graduating all together all of us seniors I always told Derrick I will be there for him and I always told him to be safe. I got to know him really well during our senior year. We will text each other on Snapchat he will text me to see how I’m doing and I will text him to see how he’s doing we just had some really good conversations after we graduated. But I just wanted to say thank you Derrick for always being here for me when I needed you and I always told you, you will always be my friend to me no matter what happens you will Always be in my heart. Derrick was one of my students at ALA. He was such a bright young man and always made me smile. My heart goes out to the family.

Derrick and I were in marching band and jazz band together. He was always a friendly guy, and had us laughing all the time. He always said hello to everyone and was a kind person with so much life. He will sincerely be missed.

Derrick was a really nice guy with a lot of life and passion. We used to be in jazz band together and i used to teach him some drumming things that I’ve picked up over the years. On his behalf, I sincerely wish the best for his family and friends, it’s extremely sad to see such a good person go.

I was in Jazz band with Derrick. I was a freshman and he was always nice to me. He was always kind to me and he said hi to me in the hallways, when most seniors would have ignored a freshman like me. I will never forget his kindness.

I’m so sorry for the loss of Derrick. He was a lovely person to be around. A while ago, we had painting class together. We’d always talk about our interests, and he was amazing at listening. He was really talented and I looked up to him. He always knew how to make people laugh. He was an inspiration to be around and always encouraged kindness. When we had marching band together, he still remembered me from our painting class, and he made me feel included. The pictures I shared earlier were from a festival we performed at. We all had so much fun that day. After he graduated, we didn’t talk much, which I now regret. I wish I got to know him more before he passed, and I’ll always remember him. What I do know is that he was caring, compassionate, and it was an honor to be around him. My thoughts go out to the family and I send my love your way. Thank you Derrick for being a wonderful person and may you Rest In Peace. ❤️
