Such a beautiful tribute to Derek honouring his family, his life and his purpose. I met Derek through Chiro after an accident I had. He brought more healing to me on so many levels through his beliefs and care. Meeting his lovely wife Tamara and hearing stories of his beautiful children was a gift. He so loved his family. The last time I saw him was the day before I moved. I just had to have one more treatment and see his face. I knew that it would be the last time. His transition to the other side will be met with love. Sending heart felt love and appreciation to his family for sharing him with so many. Knowing Derek was a blessing.
To Tamara, Tai and Mia: I remember Tamara and Derek's wedding day on Salt Spring island...it was the beginning of a great journey with friends and family. My last memory of your Dad doing "the worm" in dance at Aunt Laura's and Uncle Bill's birthday celebration about sums up the way that I have lived, and it made it easy for your Dad to be a personal best friend of mine. We danced, all of us, 6 hours into the night and I have been dancing at the clubs for over 40 years (my career was being an aunt and bringing up my nephews, Kai, Seth and now Finn). While it has been a casual way of living ( I have been also, a devoted babysitter instead of "kids of my own") I loved my life most that way. Your Dad was a gifted dancer, and I'm glad now that he was part of the best moments in my life. Love and gratitude for the years we have all had together. My heart is with you every day, the same way as we are grieving...Sending you love and hugs from Leslie *aka Auntie IE and the cats (who miss Tata and Ted too) xoxo
