Derek Wayne Pearson, 47, of Belleville, Texas, passed away tragically on January 7, 2026, following an automobile accident. A man known for his hard work, his love for the outdoors, and his devotion to his family, Derek leaves behind a legacy of laughter and cherished memories.
A Life of Hard Work and Simple Pleasures
Born on October 9, 1978, Derek grew up in Woodward, Oklahoma, where he attended Woodward Public Schools and graduated from Woodward High School in 1997. He carried the values of his hometown with him throughout his life and career.
Professionally, Derek was highly skilled and dedicated. He spent many years sharing his expertise as a wireline engineer and continued to do so with his recent work at GR Energy Services.
While he was a committed professional, Derek truly was in element in the backyard. He found peace in the rhythm of yard work and spent countless hours tending to his chickens (especially Phyllis), who were a constant source of enjoyment for him. When he wasn't outside, you could find him watching his girls do what they love to do , watching his beloved OU Sooners play football, fishing, or relaxing at the beach. He was also a fixture among his circle of friends, known for his competitive spirit during rounds of Golden Tee golf.
Family and Legacy
Derek was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Lynn “Becky” Pearson, and his sister, Cindy Sue.
He is survived by a large and loving family who will miss his presence deeply:
Wife: Rosa Pearson of Belleville, TX.
Children: Daughters Kiersten Pearson and Taryn Pearson of Pflugerville, TX.
Stepchildren: Haley Madden, Holly Rollings, Hanna Rollings, and Fabian Balboa (spouse) of Cypress, TX; Hunter Rollings and Kyleigh (spouse) of Magnolia, TX.
Father: Tommy Pearson of Woodward, OK.
Brother: Steve Pearson and wife Jodi of Amarillo, TX.
Grandchildren: Xavier and Skylar Madden; Karson, Kasen, and Haisley Smith; Ayden Borjas and Athena Balboa; and Leonila Rollings.
Nieces: Paige and husband Jayton Bennett, and Brooklyn and husband Ryan Jacobson.

Service Information
Derek will be honored alongside his mother at a Celebration of Life Service. Friends and family are invited to gather to share stories and remember the impact Derek had on those around him.
